Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 8, 2026

This policy explains what information FindIt501 collects, how we use and protect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We are committed to data minimization β€” collecting as little personal information as possible.

FindIt501 (β€œFindIt501,” β€œwe,” β€œus,” or β€œour”) operates findit501.com (the β€œService”), a business directory for Belize. By using the Service you agree to this Privacy Policy. It should be read together with our Terms of Service and our Trust, Safety & Security Policy.

1. Information you give us

  • Business submissions & claims β€” when you list, claim, or request changes to a business, we collect the details you provide: business name, contact name, phone, email, category, district, description, and (if offered) proof of ownership such as a registration or BCCAR document.
  • Owner accounts β€” if you create an account to manage a listing, we collect your email address and a securely hashed password (we never see or store your password in plain text). Authentication is handled by our provider, Supabase.
  • Orders & memberships β€” if you subscribe to a paid plan, we record the order details (business, plan, amount, contact name, email, phone, and status). We do not collect or store card numbers; payments are settled by bank transfer or invoice.
  • Reviews & ratings β€” the display name, star rating, and comment you submit. We store a random device token to limit duplicate reviews; it is not linked to your identity.
  • Messages β€” the content of emails or messages you send us.

2. Information collected automatically

  • Page-view analytics β€” when a business profile is viewed, we record the listing and the date. To estimate unique visitors without identifying anyone, we compute a one-way hash from coarse signals that rotates daily; we do not store your IP address or browser user-agent, and the hash cannot be reversed to identify you.
  • Contact / lead taps β€” when a visitor taps a business’s WhatsApp, phone, website, email, or social link, we record which kind of contact was tapped and the date, so paid businesses can see how often customers reach out. No personal data is stored with this event.
  • Search activity β€” search terms entered and how many results they returned, used to improve search. These logs are aggregated and do not include your name or contact details.
  • Approximate location β€” only if you allow it, your browser shares your location so we can show nearby businesses. This is processed in your browser and is not stored on our servers.
  • Saved lists & preferences β€” stored locally in your own browser (localStorage), not on our servers.

3. Business listing data

Many listings are compiled from publicly available sources (public business directories, websites, and similar) and from business owner submissions. See our Listing Data & Removal Policy for how to claim, correct, or remove a listing.

4. How we use information

  • To operate, maintain, secure, and improve the directory, search, and accounts.
  • To display listings, reviews, and ratings.
  • To process and verify claims, corrections, removals, orders, and memberships.
  • To send Service communications β€” confirmations, receipts, claim and verification updates, account and security notices, and, for paid businesses, periodic performance reports.
  • To produce aggregate analytics and the performance metrics shown to business owners.
  • To detect, prevent, and address spam, fraud, abuse, security incidents, and technical issues.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to run the Service, namely with the trusted providers below (each processing only what is necessary), and where required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Service.

  • Vercel β€” website and application hosting.
  • Supabase β€” secure database and account authentication (listings, reviews, analytics, orders, owner accounts).
  • Titan Email (via Bluehost) β€” sending and receiving Service emails such as confirmations, receipts, and reports.
  • Geocoding provider β€” converts business addresses to map coordinates.

Business profile information (name, category, location, contact details you provide) is, by its nature, displayed publicly in the directory.

6. Cookies & local storage

We use your browser’s local storage for features such as your saved list, a search-personalization token, a one-review-per-device check, and to keep you signed in to an owner account. You can clear these at any time through your browser settings.

7. Data retention

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy, to run accounts and listings, and to meet legal, accounting, or security obligations. Aggregate analytics may be kept longer in a form that does not identify you. You can request deletion as described below.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information β€” including encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, privacy-preserving analytics, least-privilege access to sensitive keys, and administrator safeguards. Details are in our Trust, Safety & Security Policy. No online service can be 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond promptly to any incident.

9. Your choices & rights

  • Access & correction β€” request a copy of, or correction to, information about you or your business.
  • Deletion β€” request deletion of your account or of a listing (see the Listing Data & Removal Policy).
  • Review removal β€” request removal of a review you posted, or report a review that breaks our rules.
  • Email preferences β€” ask to stop non-essential emails; we may still send essential transactional or security messages.
  • Location β€” deny or revoke browser location access at any time.

To exercise any of these, email info@findit501.com. We may need to verify your request.

10. Children

The Service is intended for users aged 18 and older and is not directed at children.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the β€œLast updated” date above and, where appropriate, by additional notice.

12. Governing law & contact

This policy is governed by the laws of Belize. Questions or requests: info@findit501.com.
